Laser Doppler Vibrometers

Non-contact. Precise. Innovative.

Optomet presents the SWIR scanning vibrometer on the messweb masters 2023

Our colleague and Sales Engineer Tobias Schröder explains the measurement on an electronics board, frequently called PCB. A shaker is used to excite this PCB broadband, i.e., at different frequencies. We measure and analyze the boards vibrations to detect resonances and locate vibration nodes.

What is the purpose of all this? It is used to detect areas with large vibration amplitudes on the PCB. With this knowledge, electronic components can be placed so that they are outside the critical zone.

Introducing our truly flexible Fiber heads

Several fiber heads optimized for our Fiber Series are available. Choose the right optical system based on working distance, reflectivity of the surface to be measured, size of the focus point or measurement environment.

Robust fiber heads allow to separate the vibrometer from the measurement location. Fiber heads can be placed in climatic chambers and vacuum chambers, under ionizing radiation and in clean rooms.

Our fiber system uses separate fibers for the outgoing measurement beam and the incoming reflected signal ensure optimal signal quality without mutual interference.

Nova-Xtra: Vibrational measurement of a bridge

Our Nova-Xtra enables measurements over distances of 300 meters. The invisible SWIR laser ensures the best signal strength. An optional IR-Camera allows for visualizing and locating the laser spot on the object.

The ideal application of the Nova-Xtra is in the aerospace industry and in civil engineering where the Nova-Xtra can be used to detect distant vibrations on buildings or bridges.

Vibration Analysis in all Sizes and on all Surfaces

Using cutting edge laser sources and interferometry, Optomet Laser Doppler vibrometers enable the non-contact measurement of vibration over a range of several orders of magnitude, from atomic dimensions all the way to large buildings.

Easy measurements on virtually any kind of surface and without any influence on the sample are an indispensable tool for the analysis of even the most delicate structures. Optical laser doppler vibrometry uses the principle of a Mach-Zehnder Interferometer, which shows any changes in the measurement beam due to the frequency shift induced by the doppler effect when the laser light of the measurement beam is reflected from a vibrating surface. A detailed explanation of how a Laser Doppler Vibrometer works can be found at Measurement Principle.

For a wide variety of applications in industry and research, Optomet consequently utilizes advanced and user-friendly Laser Doppler vibrometers that meet highest technical standards while being easy to operate.

Single-Point and Scanning Laser Vibrometer

Depending on your application, our Single-Point Laser Vibrometers or Scanning Laser Vibrometers are best suited to solve your measurement problem. Optomet exploits the superior measurement properties of infrared laser systems (SWIR) and the various benefits of fully digital signal processing which provides sampling rates up to 160 MS/s. The logical consequence are an unbeatable High-Dynamic-Range and the best signal quality you can wish for.

Especially when it comes to constructing Infrared-Laser-Scanning Vibrometers Optomet has the longest experience of all available manufacturers. Let us convince you of our expertise!
