Optomet company building in Darmstadt, Germany.

About us.

Founding a company

In 2004, graduate engineer Dirk Günther founded Optomet GmbH together with his business partner and former fellow student, graduate engineer Qian Liu. Since then, the company has been developing and manufacturing state-of-the-art measurement technology at its headquarters in Darmstadt to meet the most demanding vibration analysis requirements in industry and research.

Milestones

In 2011, the Darmstadt-based company became the first in the world to use FPGAs in its instruments. Field Programmable Gate Arrays are the key components for pushing laser Doppler vibrometers to the limits of what is technically possible. Optomet was also the first company worldwide to present an infrared scanning vibrometer at Automotive Testing Expo 2015 in Stuttgart. The 2018 launch of OptoSCAN, the new full-field vibration imaging software for intuitive vibration data acquisition, analysis, and visualization, marked another revolutionary milestone in the laser vibrometer market.

Philosophy

"Always striving for the best possible solution and going uncompromisingly to the limits of what is technologically feasible." This motivation from the founding days still describes the Optomet DNA today. To this day, the only questions underlying the development of every single product are: where do the technical limits lie, and how can they be pushed further?
